E. M. Boehm Studios was founded in 1950 by Edward Marshall Boehm (1913-1969), an orphan and farmhand who taught himself porcelain making after discovering art as therapy during World War II. With the help of his wife, Helen Franzolin Boehm, who managed the marketing, the company grew exponentially based on Edward’s exquisitely detailed nature and wildlife sculptures, often inspired by the exotic birds they bred. Today, Boehm porcelain is internationally recognized, found in major museum collections, and honored by a named wing in the Vatican Museums.
