Ichendorf Milano began as a glassware company established in the early 1910s in a small town near Cologne, Germany named Quadrath-Ichendorf. Little survives of the company records during the period from World War I through World War II, but their works were often sent to other companies to be marked and exported, and from the 1950s on they shifted into a mid century modern style in their own name that found a market in America and the rest of Europe. In 1990 the company was bought and moved to Milan, Italy, taking on its new name and a new direction, collaborating with various artisans to develop a broader aesthetic, and even incorporating stoneware and other forms in the 2020s.
