(4) Antique Chinese Porcelain Plates with Peaches. Four antique Chinese porcelain plates with floral scrollwork, characters, and pink peaches of longevity. Signed on base.

In Chinese art, the peach is a powerful symbol of longevity, immortality, and prosperity, deeply rooted in ancient mythology and Daoist belief. Often associated with the legendary “Peaches of Immortality” grown in the garden of the Queen Mother of the West (Xiwangmu), the fruit is said to ripen once every few thousand years and grant eternal life to those who eat it. As a result, peaches frequently appear in paintings, ceramics, textiles, and carvings, often in the hands of immortals or paired with cranes, bats, and other auspicious symbols. This imagery is especially popular in birthday gifts and celebratory decor, where the peach serves as a blessing for health, vitality, and a long, fulfilling life.
