Nambé International is the name of a company that was founded in 1951 in a tiny village near Santa Fe, New Mexico bearing the same name. Their earliest focus was on glasswares and silverware, expanding significantly in the 1960s to include furnishings and home decor. In the mid 1970s, however, the company fell on hard times, and was absorbed by Portmeirion, a British pottery company based in Stoke-on-Trent. In 1998 Nambé began crafting full-lead crystal and added lighting to their lineup in 2001. Nambé products have been collected and exhibited by museums around the world, including the British Museum, the Netherlands International Museum of Design, the Center for Modern Art in Prague, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
