(3) French Limoges Rochard Porcelain Sculptural Miniature Boxes. Each is marked on the interior. One is shaped like a suitcase with a map on the exterior, one is a globe on a stand, and the last is made to look like a United States passport with an American flag inside. All have brass mouths and clasps.

Limoges porcelain refers to hard-paste porcelain made in and around Limoges, France, beginning in the late 18th century after the discovery of local kaolin. The first factory was founded in 1771 and later came under royal patronage, though production declined during the French Revolution. By the 1830s, Limoges had surpassed Paris as France’s main porcelain center, with notable factories including Bernardaud, Haviland & Co., and Royal Limoges. Today, Limoges remains the leading hub of French porcelain, producing over half of the nation’s output.
