Monks often wear simple robes—varying in color by tradition—and rely on alms or communal support for sustenance, symbolizing humility and interdependence. Found across various Buddhist traditions like Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna, monks serve not only as spiritual practitioners but also as teachers, caretakers of religious texts, and community leaders.
