Theo Olsen EFTF was founded by Theodore Olsen (1837-1890) in 1868 in Bergen, Norway. Many of his pieces were utensils and small kitchenwares, although he occasionally made larger works on commission. After his death the silversmithery and store were sold to brothers Magnus and Knut Aase, who continued to use the name Theodore Olsen due to his local popularity. Since then, many generations of the Aase family have managed the firm, keeping the hand-made traditions intact, and in 2016 Theodor Olsen Eftf became Arven AS, recognized as the oldest continuously operating silverware workshop in the country.
