These are two oil-on-canvas paintings by Jean Salabet, a French artist best known for his colorful cityscapes of Paris. His works have been compared to those by Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard, and Edouard Cortes, and they often depict people as they walk about the beautiful architecture of Paris.
One painting depicts a side view of the Arc de Triomphe, one of Paris’s most notable landmarks. The other is a street scene depicting cars and pedestrians at an intersection in Paris. Both paintings are signed and dated 1954 in the lower right corner. The overall size is 14 3/8 x 17 3/8 in. wide for both paintings and the sight size is 10 3/8 x 13 3/8 in. wide for both, too.
