The Mangani family has been a celebrated name in Italian sculpture for generations. Patriarch Cesarino Mangani established his own atelier in Florence at the beginning of the 20th Century, but it was forced to close during the global economic collapse of 1930. His son, Alfiero, found work as a ceramist-sculptor at the Zaccagnini porcelain factory, where he continued his father’s designs, establishing Le Porcellane Di Firenze in 1948. In 1955 Alfiero opened a new workshop with his sons, Ivan and Lando,  and after Alfiero’s death the family business partnered with interior designer Piero Borghesi, who helped them pivot from simple sculpture to functional ware, leading to a fruitful, thirty-year collaboration with Tiffany & Co. The company, now known as Nostro Zio Furno Mangani, has gained recognition for both its commercial success and its significant restoration work on numerous churches throughout Italy. Today, Lando’s children, Giulia and Lorenzo Mangani, continue the family’s historic tradition of exquisite porcelain manufacturing under the new brand, Giulia Mangani Firenze.
