(2) Grogan Company Sterling Silver Serving Bowls - 52.085 ozt. Matching patterns with wheat and fruit decorations around the rims and two shell-like side handles on each. Monogrammed "ECB" in the centers. Both have hallmarks on the undersides of the rims indicating they were made in Paris, France, and are marked "Grogan Company Pittsburgh Sterling" in the middle of the bottoms.

The Grogan Company was founded by James C. Grogan as J.C. Grogan & Co. in 1906 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally jewelers and silversmiths, they specialized in smaller sterling silver flatware and tableware, eventually shifting more and more towards jewelry and precious stones during World War II. Difficult times and supply issues in the early 1960s led the company to restructure completely, closing the jewelry business on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Wood Street and renaming themselves Grogan Brothers Moving Storage. Many of their surviving pieces are in museums throughout New England and the Midwest, known for their innovative fusions of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.
