Both fruit focused, one showing three luscious strawberries and the other a wide variety of produce. Both works are signed bottom left, with the strawberry one dated 1906.
Condition: Minor paint loss. Commensurate with age.

George William Whitaker (1840-1916) was an American painter born in Massachusetts who was raised in Rhode Island after being orphaned at age two. He received early artistic training at the North American Phalanx before apprenticing as an engraver in New York. Whitaker began painting under the influence of Hudson River School artists and later studied in Paris, where he was heavily influenced by the Barbizon school. Upon returning to Providence, he was a driving force in the local art community, instrumental in founding the Rhode Island School of Design and the Providence Art Club.
