(2) 1997 Jerry Garcia Psychedelic Road Trip XL T-Shirts. Both 100% cotton, both with the logo and name for the National Meals on Wheels Foundation on the sleeve, and both with all the locations of the tour on the back: Hollywood, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, Indianapolis, Washington, D.C., and Orlando. One shows a peace sign on the front with the title of the tour in the outer circle, and the other has the words "Don't Miss The" along with an image of the iconic Grateful Dead themed Volkswagen Type 2 Bus on the front, and the bus larger in the midst of the title of the tour on the back. A logo for "Private Issue by Discover" is also on both shirts, indicating the overall sponsor for the event, when the company released credit cards with original art by musicians like Garcia, Phil Collins, Tina Turner, and more in the late 1990s.

Jerry Garcia was a legendary American musician best known as the lead guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of the Grateful Dead, a band that rose to prominence during the 1960s counterculture. Born in 1942 and introduced to music from a very young age, his achievements with guitar were all the more impressive for having lost two-thirds of his right middle finger when his brother cut it off in a wood splitting accident when he was four. Although he personally disavowed the title, he was widely viewed as the de-facto leader of the Grateful Dead and performed with them throughout their entire 30-year career. Garcia was also a prolific collaborator who founded numerous side projects, including the Jerry Garcia Band and New Riders of the Purple Sage. Celebrated for his technical virtuosity and unique playing style, he was repeatedly ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. His signature musical approach relied heavily on long, spontaneous improvisations, which he viewed as a form of sonic exploration rather than merely playing written songs. Later in life he faced severe health struggles and drug addiction, ultimately passing away from a heart attack in 1995 while staying at a rehabilitation facility.
