1986 Sarsaparilla Deco Designs Art Glass Cat on Yarn Ball Lamp. A whimsical light showing a black cat arching up to claw at a ball of yarn made of a frosted round panel with a lightbulb behind it. Marked on the underside of the black resin base. 

Size: 10 1/2 x 8 1/4 x 8 3/4 in. 

Sarsaparilla Deco Designs was founded by Les Sackin in 1976 in West New York, New Jersey, and sold both hand-blown pieces by glass artists in the Boroughs as well as importing works primarily from Japan. Their vases, glasses, and sculptural works were responsible for a brief revival of the Art Deco movement in lower Manhattan in the 1980s, but by the early 90s they were struggling to keep up with changing market tastes. The company was purchased in 1997 by Appletree, Inc., who continued to use their original molds for another decade.
