Artist Biography:
Zoltan Bohus (1941-2017) was a pioneering Hungarian glass artist who significantly shaped the modern glassmaking movement in his country. He began his artistic journey studying decorative painting at the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts, but his path shifted when he discovered the captivating medium of glass. Bohus became known for his innovative and architectonic sculptures, often employing cold-worked glass techniques to create intricate and monumental forms. His work explored geometric shapes and minimalist aesthetics, resulting in pieces that are both visually striking and intellectually stimulating. Bohus's influence extended beyond his own artistic practice, as he also served as a professor, nurturing a new generation of glass artists in Hungary.
