Author Biography: Zao Wou-Ki (1920–2013) was a Chinese-French abstract painter acclaimed for his fusion of Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Born in Beijing, he moved to Paris in 1948, where he found himself influenced by the likes of Paul Klee, Joan Miró, and Henri Matisse. Zao's work navigated the realms of abstraction with bold brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and lyrical compositions. His paintings often evoke a sense of movement and dynamism, reflecting his deep appreciation for both Chinese calligraphy and European modernism. Throughout his career, Zao received numerous accolades and held exhibitions worldwide, solidifying his status as a pioneering figure in 20th-century art.
