Woody Woodpecker is a classic American cartoon character created in 1940 by animator Walter Lantz and voiced initially by Mel Blanc, later famously by Grace Stafford, Lantz’s wife. Known for his manic energy, distinctive laugh, and mischievous antics, Woody quickly became one of the most iconic figures in animation during the golden age of American cartoons. He starred in theatrical shorts, comic books, and television series, embodying a wild, irreverent spirit that often outwitted his rivals and authority figures. Woody's popularity spanned decades, and he remains a cultural icon, with his signature laugh—“Ha-ha-ha-HA-ha!”—instantly recognizable to generations of fans around the world.
