Eastman was President of the Cleveland Society of Artists and painted frequently with Charles Burchfield, the great American watercolorist. William Joseph Eastman was born in 1881 in Cleveland, Ohio. Eastman was a Clevelander who graduated from the Cleveland School of Art in 1912. Following a period at the Art Students League in New York, he became an instructor at the Cleveland School of Art.
