Living in that area in his early years, he settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1956. He now resides in the California Coastal community of Pacific Grove. Stone, primarily a watercolorist, is known for his California landscapes and coastal images painted in a unique, almost abstract, style. Stone studied at the University of California, Berkeley (B.A.). He also studied at the School of Medical Illustration in Boston, Massachusetts. Later he earned a Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Stone has been a member of the prestigious Carmel Art Association since 1972, serving on its Board of Directors on several occasions. He has served three (3) terms as that Association's President.
