Wendy Corr was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1968. Her family moved frequently throughout Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, and initially she sought to be a professional athlete before suffering a catastrophic waterskiing injury. While in convalescence she took up painting to cope with the boredom, and it became a lifelong passion. After graduating from high school in Gibsonton, Florida she attended the nearby University of South Florida, focused on Business Studies. She discovered photography in 1987, which led her to transfer to the Atlanta College of Art and Design, graduating in 1991. She spent the next decade painting and making large-scale prints of her photographs with a lithographer in Denver, Colorado, eventually deciding to study architecture and design at the School of Interior Design. From 1999 to 2001 she attended San Francisco State University to study Elementary Education, and took classes at the Art Institute while teaching elementary school part time. She created many enormous colorful abstract paintings, exploring collage and mixing oils, watercolors, and more into her images. In 2012 she was hired by the Hernando County School Board as a full-time teacher, leading her to relocate permanently to Brooksville, Florida. She opened her own studio, Soar With Corr Multi Media, where she continues to make art and show her works throughout the Tampa Bay Area, although a horse-riding accident in the mid 2010s exacerbated the damage from the waterskiing injury in her teens, making it difficult for her to paint for extended periods of time.
