Weller Pottery was an influential American ceramics company founded in 1872 in Zanesville, Ohio, and active until 1948, known for its wide range of decorative art pottery. The company produced both utilitarian and artistic wares, including vases, jardinières, lamps, and figurines, often featuring elaborate glazes, relief designs, and motifs inspired by Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, and Oriental styles. Weller employed talented designers and potters, such as Frederick Rhead and Henri Boursin, whose innovations in glaze chemistry and sculptural form helped establish the company’s reputation for quality and artistic creativity. Collectors today prize Weller pottery for its diversity, craftsmanship, and the striking interplay of color and texture that characterize its decorative lines, making it a hallmark of early 20th-century American studio pottery.
