Walter Emerson Baum (1884-1956) was an American painter, educator, and cultural leader known as a key figure of Pennsylvania Impressionism. Born in Sellersville, he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he absorbed influences from Realism and Impressionism. Baum produced over 2,000 works, primarily depicting the rural landscapes and small-town architecture of Bucks and Lehigh Counties, often painted en plein air. Beyond his art, he was a central figure in the Lehigh Valley, founding both the Baum School of Art and the Allentown Art Museum.
