In 1884, W.T.Greene, Fellow of the Zoological Society of Great Britain, issued a series of color lithographs of Parrots, each hand touched with watercolor and varnish, emphasizing the feathers and shading in the sky in a tradition that brought together the science of lithography with the art of color-tinting. Greene was a parrot enthusiast and specialist, with strong and outspoken views on the merits of each parrot, lory, and cockatoo species in the wild.
