Philip Ashberry & Sons was a renowned Sheffield, England-based manufacturer of pewter and silver-plated wares, established in 1829 by Philip Ashberry, a spoon maker. They adopted their final name in 1856 when John A. Ashberry joined the company, and became a limited company in 1900. Operating until 1935, the firm was known for producing high-quality Victorian tea sets, cutlery, and pewter items, often marked with “Sheffield” and the firm’s name. The business was purchased by Lewis Rose & Co. and their stock and equipment sold off to George Butler’s, with the Ashberry name still used in production even after it was later acquired by the Spear & Jackson group in 1969. In 1976 it became part of the French Ashberry & Degrenne Ltd, but was discontinued altogether in the 1990s.
