Vintage Italian Hand Painted Enamel & Silver Case.
Finely gilt wash interior with malachite style enamel. Jeweler throughout is balanced and well executed. Condition: very good.
Many of these compacts were made in Florence, Italy from 1930-1970. They are prized for their highly detailed miniature recreations of master works of art. This one recreates the famous work of Titan’s “Amor Sacro e Amor Profano” (Sacred and Profane Love). Beautifully intricate silver work and deep hues of green guilloché enamel embellish the work and act as a frame for the painting.
