Harrods is a world-renowned luxury department store located on Brompton Road in the Knightsbridge district of London. Originally founded by Charles Henry Harrod in 1849 as a draper, mercer, and haberdasher, the current iconic building opened in 1905 after the previous structure was destroyed by a fire in 1883. With over 1.1 million square feet of retail space, it holds the title of the largest department store in Europe and attracts 15 million visitors every year. The store’s architectural significance was officially recognized in 1969, and the business was part of House of Fraser before being acquired by the Fayed brothers in 1985 and later established as an independent private group. Since 2010, Harrods has been owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar, and continues to produce world-renowned clothing, jewelry, toys, furniture, and countless other quality products.
