Chinese export porcelain refers to the finely crafted ceramics produced primarily during the Ming and Qing dynasties for foreign markets, especially in Europe and the Americas. Characterized by its durable white body, intricate hand-painted decoration, and wide range of forms—from plates and teapots to figurines and punch bowls—this porcelain was tailored to suit Western tastes while retaining distinct Chinese aesthetics. Popular styles included blue-and-white wares, famille rose palettes, and armorial pieces commissioned by European nobility. Often transported aboard East India Company ships, Chinese export porcelain became a symbol of global trade and luxury, blending artistic traditions across continents with every delicate brushstroke.

Provenance: Obtained from a landmark house in Greenwish, NY. Originally a gift from John Alexander McCone, sixth director of the CIA from 1961 to 1965.
