Vintage British Johnson Bros. Olde English Countryside Platter and Plate. Lot comprised of two decorative serving items by Johnson Bros., decorated with an etching depicting a rural English town.

Johnson Bros. ceramics, a hallmark of British pottery since the late 19th century, are beloved for their durable earthenware and charming, pastoral designs that evoke the English countryside. Originally known for their innovative "semi-porcelain" that combined the elegance of fine china with the strength of stoneware, Johnson Bros. became widely popular for their transferware patterns—delicate florals, scenic landscapes, and traditional toile motifs in soft hues like blue, pink, and brown. These ceramics graced everyday tables and formal tea settings alike, offering an accessible blend of beauty and practicality. Condition: Hairline crack on underside of plate. Large crack down center of the platter.
