Vina Cames (1908-1971) American, 1960s California Watercolor Park Scene. Signed lower right. Melvina Jane Cochran Cames was born in Oakland, CA on March 16, 1908. Vina Cochran lived in Oakland and Eureka until her marriage to Louis Cames, a railroad man, in 1925. She then moved to Laramie, WY. During the 1930s she worked for the WPA and studied at the University of Wyoming and at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center under Henry V. Poor and Boardman Robinson. Following her divorce, she moved to San Francisco and was employed as an artist for the Nat'l Lead Paint Company for many years. She died in San Francisco on Oct. 30, 1971. Her work includes landscapes of Wyoming and California.
