Artist Biography:
Victor Vasarely, born on April 9, 1906, in Pécs, Hungary, was a pioneering artist and a central figure in the Op Art movement, known for his groundbreaking work in optical illusions and geometric abstraction. After moving to Paris in 1930, Vasarely developed a style characterized by precise, mathematically-inspired compositions that create visual effects of movement and depth. His innovative use of color, form, and pattern revolutionized the perception of space and visual experience, making his work highly influential in both the art world and popular culture. Vasarely's legacy is celebrated for its exploration of the relationship between art and science, and his work remains a significant influence in contemporary design and visual art. He passed away on March 15, 1997, in Paris, France.
