Vernon George Broe (1930-2011) was an American artist best known for his coastal and maritime scenes inspired by life in New England. Born in Illinois, he studied art extensively before settling in Maine, where the seashore became his central subject. His paintings often depict sailboats, children playing on the beach, or quiet seaside landscapes, rendered in a style blending realism with a gentle impressionistic touch. Broe's work appeared in galleries and on the covers of Yankee Magazine, and his oils remain appreciated for their warmth and celebration of coastal tradition.
