Vasyl Dmytrovych Yermylov (1894–1968) was a pioneering Ukrainian avant-garde artist and designer, celebrated for his contributions to Cubism, Constructivism, and Neo-Primitivism. Born in Kharkiv, he studied at the School for Applied Art in Kharkiv and later at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he encountered influential figures like Vladimir Mayakovsky and David Burliuk. Yermylov played a significant role in Ukraine's artistic development, founding the "League of Seven" group and participating in the "Budiak" collective. He was instrumental in the agitprop movement, designing posters, decorations, and the "Red Ukraine" agit-train. As a co-founder of the Technical Art Institute in Kharkiv, he influenced generations of artists. Despite facing challenges during the Soviet era, including accusations of formalism, Yermylov's legacy endures. His works are preserved in major art institutions, and the Yermilov Center in Kharkiv, opened in 2012, stands as a testament to his lasting impact on Ukrainian art.
