These are two engravings of snakes from the 1800’s. The piece showing three varieties of vipers is a hand-colored copper plate engraving circa 1815 by Richard Evans (1778 - 1864), a well known early nineteenth century London publisher. The engraving bears his address at White’s Row, Spitalfield. The second colored engraving shows two coiled snakes that have not been identified yet. The overall size of the first one is 14 1/2 x 12 in. wide and the sight size is 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. wide. The overall size of the second one is 15 x 12 in. wide and the sight size is 10 1/2 x 7 in. wide.
