Trịnh Cung (born 1938 in Nha Trang) is a celebrated Vietnamese painter widely recognized for his contributions to modern Vietnamese art. A graduate of the Huế College of Fine Arts in 1962, he quickly achieved acclaim with multiple awards, including certificates and medals at national exhibitions, and was featured internationally at the Paris and Tunis Biennials in the early 1960s. During the 1960s and early 1970s, he served as General Secretary of the Vietnamese Young Artists Association and exhibited his works globally, teaching in Huế and Saigon before resuming his art in 1985. His work is held in permanent collections across Asia—in Hong Kong and Singapore—and he has held solo exhibitions in Paris (1995) and in the United States, including California and Washington, D.C., in 1997. Known for evocative oil paintings like Jeune fille en Áo Dài rouge, Trịnh Cung's art continues to appear at auction and remains influential in shaping Vietnam’s postwar visual culture.
