Tony Bennett: Photo shot by Stewart: Close up and moody shot of the master captured by Al Stewart (unsigned) Tony Bennett. Frank Sinatra named him as his favorite Singer. And quite frankly, Frank knew what he was talking about. And Tony’s favorite singer? Well that would be the kid from Hoboken named Francis Albert Sinatra. And whether Tony or Frank is your favorite, one thing can’t be argued, his magnificently distinguishable voice is one that sadly with his passing, is one that will never be replaced. Born Anthony Dominick Benedetto on August 3, 1926, and known professionally as Tony Bennett, he was an merican jazz and traditional pop singer and considered to be on of greatest interpreters of the American song book. Accolades include 20 Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Bennett was named an NEA Jazz Master and a Kennedy Center Honoree and founded the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens, New York. In the end man from Astoria, Queens sold over 50 Million records in a storied career that him arned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a nod from the Chairman of the board as having the best pipes in the business. What- You going to argue with Frank? After a night of playing with Mr. Bennett, Al Stewart noticed the great singer in his dressing room, seemingly elsewhere in thought. Stewart says, “I took this photograph not a moment too soon as he joined our conversation seconds after I tripped the shutter.” The lesson? Whether playing a great jazz riff or capturing a great shot –it’s all about the timing. Signed on mat and under photo. Overall Size: 16 x 20 in. Sight Size: 10 x 14 in. #30 Location AF GALLERY
