Native American Pueblo black-on-black pottery vase now a lamp. Signed Tonita on base of vessel. Fine condition, minor wear, see photos. Tonita Roybal (20th century) was one of the early well-known potters from San Ildefonso. Had Maria Martinez not earned such fame, Tonita surely would have been as famous: her work was acknowledged to be as fine as Maria's. By 1925 Tonita was at the peak of her career; she died an early death in 1945. Size: 9 x 21 in. Please note that all sales are final. No refunds will be given under any circumstances.
