Tomas Hlavicka (Born 1950) Czech, Art Glass Sculpture "Akvarium" . The long rhomboid shape has a bluish-green hue throughout, with many wavy strands in gold and tan throughout to resemble sea grass drifting under a current, and wave-like humped shapes in the top. Signed and dated 2006 along the bottom edge.

Born in Prague in 1950, Tomáš Hlavička graduated as an architect in 1975 but studied glass art under his father-in-law Pavel Hlava (1924-2003), a pioneering figure in modern Czech glass, eventually focusing on the craft full time. His unique approach involves fusing multiple layers of float glass with precious metals like gold, silver, and copper, heated and shaped into striking, minimalist forms that draw from his architectural background. Since taking over Hlava’s studio in 2004 his works are now in countless collections around the world, as well as several permanent exhibitions including at the Kanazawa Glass Museum in Japan, the Riihimaki Glass Museum in Finland, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, and the Dennos Museum in Michigan.
