Thornton Utz (1914–1999) was an American artist renowned for his illustrations and portrait paintings. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, he studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Utz gained prominence in the 1940s and '50s, contributing over 50 covers to the Saturday Evening Post and creating advertisements for major companies like Coca-Cola and General Electric. His portrait work includes notable figures such as President Jimmy Carter and Princess Grace of Monaco. Beyond illustration, Utz designed stained-glass windows for the Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Sarasota, Florida, reflecting his diverse artistic talents.
