Size: 8 3/4 x 4 3/8 x 1 1/4 in.
Born in a camp near Inukjuak, Quebec, Thomassie Echalook began sculpting at the age of 25 to earn a living. He is the son of Lucassie Echalook and the nephew of Noah Echalook, both sculptors. He also worked as an engraver in the Puvirnituq workshop. In 1972, his drawings were shown for the first time in the Arctic Quebec catalogue. His work depicts both the animal and human worlds, thus illustrating the culture and life of the Inuit people. Echalook participated in numerous solo and collaborative exhibits, both nationally and internationally (United States, Israel and Germany).
