Thomas Seddon London Early Victorian Side Cabinet. Made of Amobyna and Giltwood. The shaped white marble top fits snugly between the mirror and cabinet. Seddons were one of the largest and most important firms of London cabinetmakers in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The Louis XVI style of this cabinet was no doubt influenced by their work at Windsor Castle in the late 1820s. There, the francophile King George IV had assembled much Ancien Régime furniture, including pieces by late eighteenth-century ébénistes like Adam Weisweiler, who had renewed the fashion for parcel gilded burr woods. 47 x 50 x 20 #1518
