Artist Biography:
Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980) was a renowned Polish painter best known for her distinctive Art Deco style, characterized by bold geometric forms, sharp lines, and a striking use of color. Born Tamara Rozalia Gurwik-Górska in Warsaw, she studied art in Saint Petersburg and later in Paris, where she became a prominent figure in the avant-garde movement of the 1920s and 1930s. Lempicka's portraits and nudes, often depicting the glamorous and liberated women of her time, combined classical techniques with modernist aesthetics, making her one of the most iconic artists of her era. Her work captured the spirit of the Roaring Twenties and the elegance of the Jazz Age, and she became celebrated for both her artistic achievements and her flamboyant lifestyle. Tamara de Lempicka's legacy endures as a symbol of the Art Deco movement and the emancipated modern woman.
