This is an oil on canvas by Stella Coler. It shows a view from the Thames looking towards St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and it’s signed and dated 1973 on the canvas.
Stella was born in Michigan, where she went to college. She studied art in Indianapolis and at the Art Students League in New York. She lived in Indiana and eventually moved to Sarasota, Florida, in the 1950’s. She was a member of the Sarasota Arts Association and president of the art group in 1955. She was known for painting still-lifes of flowers, so this is a nice departure for her.
The painting has a paper description on the back, and the overall size is 10 5/8 x 12 9/16 in. wide and the sight size is 8 5/8 x 11 5/8 in. wide.
