Dwayne Crocker (Born 1959) American, Glazed Pottery Face Jug. Signed on base, along with location and dated 2000. 

Size: 8 x 8 x 9 in. 

Dwayne L. Crocker was born in 1959 in Lula, Georgia and spent much of his youth exploring the woods around his town. In 1975 he started working after school at H. A. Wilson Pottery to earn money. His first job was beating the clay over a wire and setting and unloading the pottery from the old-fashioned wood burning kiln, which led him to start experimenting with forming vessels and eventually to working with the potter’s wheel himself. In 1977 they began selling his pieces, and in 1979 he left Wilson’s to work for a large pottery plant making garden ware in Gillsville. In 1983 he moved to Gillsville to be closer to his work, as well as his new wife, and with her encouragement he began making his own unique pottery in 1990, turning pots and making face jugs, roosters, and pigs. In 1999 he built a shop and opened Crocker Folk Pottery, which he continues to work at full time, crafting and firing whimsical works one at a time by hand.
