Sidney Fagin (1922-2016) was an American self-taught sculptor who began his artistic practice later in life following his retirement, teaching himself to work with clay in his 80s. Based out of Sarasota, Florida, he specialized in creating abstract and stylized figurative works, many of which were large installations at Jewish centers as well as New College of Florida. He utilized a variety of traditional materials, including alabaster, hydrocal, marble, wood, and bronze, and his wife, prominent scholar and Holocaust survivor Dr. Helen Fagin, continued to promote his work until her own death in 2022.
