Shirley Rosenthal (1924–2015) was a distinguished enamel and mixed‐media artist based in Buffalo, New York, whose career spanned five decades beginning in 1965. She specialized in enamel-on-copper wall panels—often abstract or stylized figurative compositions—and exhibited regularly at prestigious venues such as the American Crafts Council shows in Rhinebeck and Baltimore. A skilled educator, she taught enameling at the Jewish Center of Greater Buffalo, the Kenan Center, and Elderhostel programs throughout western New York. As co-founder of the annual “100 American Craftsmen” show at Lockport’s Kenan Center, she became a central figure in the region’s craft movement, earning Master Craftsman recognition and multiple Best of Show awards. Her work was acquired by the Burchfield Penney Art Center in 1991 and remained exhibited and celebrated through a solo show at the Jewish Community Center in 2013. Rosenthal's fusion of technical mastery and creative vision left a lasting legacy in contemporary American enamel art.
