Shea Bajaj was born in Eugene, Oregon in 1967, the son of an Olympic gold medalist from India. His childhood was heavily influenced by Hindu philosophy and imagery, and he obtained a Fine Arts degree from Willamette University before deciding to focus on a degree from the University of Oregon in Architecture and working for Olson Kundig Architects. However, it was winning the Mayor Art Award for an original piece that led him to pivot into an artistic career, using the cash prize to set up his first studio in 1993. He spent the next twenty years producing vibrant abstract works in a variety of mixed media, with pieces in corporate, public, and private collections throughout the country including the Swope Art Museum in Indiana and in the headquarters of major companies like Google, Broadstone, and Hilton. In 2013 he founded Modern Verve, a lighting company in Seattle, Washington, which has been his primary focus since.
