Artist Biography:
Shawn "Siesta Shawn" McLoughlin was a renowned artist based in Sarasota, Florida, known for his vibrant murals and beach scenes of Siesta Key. A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, McLoughlin's career began with catalog design before transitioning to full-time portrait work, especially focusing on candid depictions of children. His art often featured children playing on the beach, and his work was widely appreciated for capturing the charm of the Siesta Key lifestyle. McLoughlin also opened a gallery called Watercolors, where he sold his beachside paintings. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2020, Shawn held a massive sale of his lifetime of work, moving over 160 paintings in a single day. He passed away October 2021, leaving behind a legacy of art and beauty on the island he loved.
