German brass ship's barometer/thermometer.

Schatz precision barometers, produced by the German firm Schatz & Sohne, are renowned for their finely engineered mechanisms and elegant presentation, often crafted in polished brass with clear, easy-to-read dials. As aneroid barometers, they function without mercury, instead using a sealed, flexible capsule that responds to atmospheric pressure changes to predict weather conditions. Schatz instruments, especially those made in the mid-20th century, were highly valued for both domestic and maritime use, where reliability and accuracy were paramount. Today, they remain desirable among collectors of nautical instruments, admired for their combination of German precision engineering, durability, and timeless design.
