Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) was a renowned Spanish artist and one of the most influential figures of the Surrealist movement, celebrated for his extraordinary imagination, technical precision, and dreamlike imagery. Born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain, Dalí developed an unmistakable artistic style characterized by melting clocks, distorted figures, barren landscapes, and unexpected juxtapositions that explored the subconscious, dreams, and human psychology. Influenced by Renaissance masters, Freudian theories, and the Surrealist movement, he combined meticulous realism with fantastical and often unsettling subjects. His most famous painting, The Persistence of Memory (1931), featuring soft, melting clocks, became an enduring icon of modern art. Beyond painting, Dalí worked in sculpture, printmaking, film, photography, and design, collaborating with figures such as filmmaker Luis Buñuel and animator Walt Disney. Known for his flamboyant personality and distinctive moustache, Dalí cultivated a public persona as unconventional as his art, leaving a lasting legacy as a visionary whose influence continues to shape contemporary art and popular culture.
