Rylie Dexter was born in Colchester, Connecticut in 1994, and as a child he developed a love of art and storytelling, influenced by both contemporary and classical works and drawn to anime cinema. He graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida in 2017 with honors, receiving his BFA in film. He went on to work as a video editor for a major entertainment company, while also working on theatrical productions and gradually returning to his first love, visual art. Today he makes costumes, sculptures, assemblages, acrylics, watercolors, digital artwork, and films from his home studio in the Tampa Bay area, with his whimsical surrealist “Post Pulp” style appreciated by collectors along the East Coast.
Founded in 1992 by local parents and advocates alarming by high rates of teen suicide, ALSO Youth is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The organization’s overarching purpose is to build inclusive communities and empower individuals ages 10 to 24, their families, and their allies through its core pillars of Advocacy, Leadership, Support, and Outreach (ALSO). Operating dedicated youth drop-in centers, ALSO Youth provides safe, affirming spaces where young people can build supportive friendships and participate in recreational activities. Their vital work includes offering free mental health counseling, peer support groups, educational scholarships, and GED assistance at no cost to families. Additionally, ALSO Youth conducts diversity training and community outreach for local schools and businesses to foster safer, more accepting environments across the region. After losing their main facility to Hurricane Milton in 2024, they reopened and emerged even stronger in 2025, thanks to generous support from the local community.
