This is another presentation copy related to Omar Khayyam, the title of this one is "The Rose Garden Of Omar Khayyam Founded on the Persian", by Eben Francis Thompson, privately printed in MCMX - 1910 - and printed at the Commonwealth Press in Worcester, Mass., and it's a first edition because the dates on the title page and copyright page match and there are no other printings, according to WorldCat. WorldCat also says another edition came out between 1932 and 1934 as part of the Rose Garden Library, a series of miniature books by Thompson that came in a small slipcase and was accompanied by a magnifying glass to read the words. The book is bound in stiff brown paper boards, with a paper label on the cover, blank endpapers with a note on the front paste-down that reads "771 OMAR KHAYYAM (The Rose Garden of), founded on the Persian by Eben Francis Thompson, 8vo. cloth, translator's presentation copy, with autograph inscription signed, 10s 6d Privately printed, Worcester, Mass., U.S.A., 1910) and the inscription on the front flyleaf reads "James D Henderson [ ] with best wishes of Eben Francis Thompson, Worcester, Massachusetts, 12 January 1928", the title page and copyright page (both dated 1910), a three-page Introduction, a two-page biography about Omar Khayyam, and 27 pages of text. The book is a thin 8vo. and measures 9 1/4 x 6 in. wide, with a tight binding and clean pages and text, there are chips at the top and bottom of the spine and along the top edge of the front cover, the rear cover has a small chip at one tip and along the top edge of the cover, the paper label on the front has a tad of soiling and that's it, and an interesting book for collectors of the Rubaiyat. #89 #1680
